Clinicians FAQs

1. How do I join CRUfADclinic – Clinical Responsibility?

To participate in CRUfADclinic, clinicians must accept clinical responsibility for every patient they prescribe CRUfADclinic. To read more about 'What is clinical responsibility' click here.

To join CRUfADclinic, you must purchase a prescription pad. Instructions to purchase a prescription pad are as follows:

  1. Log onto www.crufadclinic.org
  2. Click onto the 'Register as Clinician' tab
  3. Click onto the 'Register here as a new member'
  4. Fill out the Clinician Registration form. When entering your email address, ensure that it is a work or secure email as you will be emailed patient summaries from CRUfADclinic. If you are a associated with a Rural Division of General Practice click here.
  5. Choose between prescription pads in paper (pad with 20 prescriptions) or a single prescription in electronic form. For more information about prescription pads please refer to the next section 2.


2. What is the difference between a prescription pad and a digital prescription?

Prescription pad:  These are pads of 20 scripts which will be delivered within 14 business days. These pads cost $100 AUD and can be purchased either online or over the phone, after registration.

Electronic Prescriptions: These are a single-use prescriptions which can be ordered online after registration, and can be printed and used instantly. To trial this product CRUfAD is offering your first online electronic prescription FREE. Every subsequent electronic prescription costs $20 AUD each.

 

3. I am associated with a Rural Division of GP - what are the procedures?

The Department of Health and Aging is funding CRUfADclinic so that access of CRUfADclinic is provided through prescription pathways for clinicians in rural NSW Divisions of GP.

If you fall into this category, you are eligible to a free CRUfADclinic prescription pad by completing the following steps:

  1. Log onto www.crufadclinic.org
  2. Click onto the 'Register as Clinician' tab
  3. Click onto the 'Register here as a new member'
  4. Fill out the Clinician Registration form. When entering your email address, ensure that it is a work or secure email as you will be emailed patient summaries from CRUfADclinic.
  5. Tick the check box  - 'I am associated with a Rural Division of General Practice' and list the name of  your Rural Division of General Practice.
  6. Fill out the delivery details to complete your order.


4. What is classified as clinical responsibility?

Clinicians who prescribe must have clinical responsibility for their patients they are prescribing for, exactly as if they were prescribing medication.

So any clinician requesting a prescription book is, in effect saying, I and only I will issue these prescriptions to my patients, who are people for whom I accept clinical responsibility for their treatment.

 

5. I am not a General Practitioner, can I still register?

Yes. Any clinician (for example, Psychologist, Medical Specialist, Mental health Nurse) who has clinical responsibility of their patients is eligible to use CRUfADclinic. To read more about 'What is clinical responsibility' click here.

 

6. Can I register on someone's behalf?

No. To participate in CRUfADclinic, you must be the clinician who accepts clinical responsibility for every patient you prescribe CRUfADclinic. You cannot register on someone's behalf as we require the clinician's email to receive communications from CRUfADclinic. It is important that the clinician’s email address should be a work or secure email as they will be emailed patient summaries from CRUfADclinic.

 

7. I'm not sure if I want to purchase a prescription pad, can I trial the product first?

Of course. Simply register on the CRUfADclinic website to receive a 30 day viewing of the first lessons of all online courses. To receive your free demo, please complete the following steps:

  1. Log onto www.crufadclinic.org
  2. Click on the 'View' button to see how CRUfADclinic works
  3. Click on the 'Demo' button to register for a free demo
  4. Fill out the Clinician Registration form and click 'Preview Courses' on the right hand side of the webpage (see example here).

8. What do I get when I purchase a prescription pad?

Each prescription pad purchase comes with the following tools and resources:

  1. Prescription pad (20 scripts) to give 20 patients access to the system
  2. Guide for clinicians using CRUfADclinic
  3. Text for practice nurses reminder calls
  4. Scales to assess anxiety and depression
  5. Illustrated story demonstrating how clinician should use CRUfADclinic

 

9. Are there any cost involved?

Yes. CRUfADclinic is operated using a special prescription pad. You will need to purchase a prescription pad ($100 AUD for 20 prescriptions) to use CRUfADclinic. Patients are given one prescription per course. The CRUfADclinic internet courses cost little ($5), and patients find them convenient to do, especially as they can be done from home and in the evening.

 

10. I am a GP. If I purchase a prescription pad, through what avenues do I have to claim the money back?

By participating in CRUfADclinic, GPs can charge for a mental health plan under Claim Item Number 2710 (Preparation of the GP Mental Health Care Plan) and Claim Item Number 2712 (GP Mental Health Care Review). For further information click here.

 

11. How do I access CRUfADclinic programs?

CRUfADclinic is accessed via the Internet. This means that once you are registered into CRUfADclinic, you have access to www.crufadclinic.org for 365 days from the date of issue of a prescription pad. To login into your clinician account, remember to use the email that you entered when you first registered into CRUfADclinic.

 

12. As an Allied Health Professional under ATAPS, how should I use CRUfADclinic as part of my consultation with patients?

Allied Health Professionals may select to substitute the allocated face-to-face CBT treatment sessions with the CRUfADclinic online treatment program. Rural and remote GPs can utilise the programs for patient treatment.
